Bird Description:

A jewel of the waterways, the Azure Kingfisher dazzles with electric-blue upperparts and a glowing orange chest. Often a quick flash along creek banks, it perches quietly before darting to spear tiny fish or insects.

Special features:

Builds nesting tunnels in riverbanks, where it raises its young safely away from predators.

Despite its vivid colour, it can vanish in plain sight — the blue reflecting the water and sky, making it blend perfectly with its surroundings.
