A medium to large migratory wader, famous for its long-distance flights without rest, and seen along sandy and muddy shores.

Special features:

Slightly upturned bill

Breeds in Alaska, migrates to Australia

Holds the record for the longest non-stop flight of any bird (~13,000 km!)

One tagged godwit flew from Alaska to Tasmania in 11 days without landing. Their incredible stamina makes them one of nature’s most impressive travellers.
