Bird Description:

Australia’s largest bird moves through the landscape with long, loping strides and curious eyes.
Despite its size, the Emu can move at surprising speed, powered by strong legs built for endurance.
In a remarkable role reversal, males incubate the eggs and raise the chicks alone.

A giant, curious, prehistoric-looking Australian icon it has powerful legs and can sit down by bending at the knees.

A line of stripey chicks is always smile-inducing as well as watching them splash in the water to cool down.
