Tawny Frogmouth

Bird Description:

Master of disguise, it looks more like a broken branch than a bird. Tawny Frogmouths sit motionless on stumps and limbs, melting into bark with incredible camouflage.

Special features:

Wide frog-like bill for snatching moths mid-flight. Stiff posture when alarmed — blending into wood grain.

Did you know?:

Not an owl — they’re closer to nightjars. Adults raise chicks together and form lifelong pairs.
