A shady shrub to small tree with large spatula shaped green leaves that turn bright yellow, then orange then red before falling off in dry times – briefly deciduous. Bark is grey and corky. Large, white, spectacular filamentous flowers open at night and fall by morning. Large oval sized fruit follow flowering.
